Applications for the next FOBS lottery are now being accepted. The lottery is our most effective fund raiser – it really takes just 5 minutes of your time to fill out an application form and pop it in an envelope with a cheque. Why not buy more than one number – one for each child; grandma; grandad……..anyone and everyone! You can buy as many numbers as you like (each number is entered in 10 monthly draws for a total cost of £10), and the more numbers that are sold, the more money we raise and the more prize money we give away. There were 150 numbers in the 2016/17 draws. That raised £750 for the school and generated £750 prize money. Can you help us make the magic 200 numbers this year? Don’t miss out – apply now.
Our AGM will be held on Tuesday 19th September at 6.30 pm in the Community Learning Centre. All parents are welcome and if you’d like to join us either on the Committee or as a helper, we’d love to see you there. In particular, we are looking for somebody to shadow our current Treasurer with a view to taking on the role from September 2018, when they will be leaving the Committee.
After streamlining the process for departmental applications for funding, FOBS are pleased to announce we’ve just approved funds to support projects for Music, English, Technology, PSHE and PE departments as well as providing funds to provide resources to support the visit of a children’s author to the Learning Resource Centre. We are also working to secure a grant for the Community Development team to bring inspirational guest speakers into school. More details will be available in the autumn.
This has only been possible thanks to your continued donations and support. Remember that if you are unable to attend any of our events, you can donate by standing order or through Tucasi (FOBS should appear in the Trips and Events section – if you can’t see us, please e-mail email@example.com). We are actively seeking other projects to support and have been working to simplify the application process for subject leaders. Updates will be provided on this page when we have news to report.

It was brilliant to see so many people at the recent quiz night with last year’s winners (masquerading under the name ‘Whinge and Wine’) retaining their title. Will anybody ever beat this bunch of ladies??? It was a really great evening and raised a massive £557. Thank you to our raffle prize donors, including the Cork and Cheese delicatessen, and also to Mr Parkes for hosting the evening. If you came along and had a great time, please come again next year …. and tell your friends!
The next Bag2School collection will take place from 3.30 to 6.30 pm on Thursday 30th November.
We will be offering refreshments at several events and parent evenings throughout the school year. Why not pop along and have a chat with us? We’d love to hear your views about FOBS and whether you have any thoughts about how the money we raise should be spent. For several years we have supported the Pupil Reward Scheme, but we are always interested to hear from parents and students about any other school projects or initiatives we could help support.
Good luck to everyone who has purchased numbers for this year’s lottery. Each monthly draw will be made at 3pm in main reception on the first Wednesday of the month and the results will be published on our lottery page. If you can’t wait for the website to be updated, follow us on Twitter @BrookfieldFOBS - where the winning numbers will be published as soon as they are available. First prize is £30, with further prizes of £20, £15 and £10 up for grabs.
