If you (or someone you know) still need to transport your pride and joy (and their friends) to the prom in style, you’re invited to the next meet of Locks Heath Classic Car Club on Thursday 11th May at Locks Heath Centre from 7.30 to 9.00 pm. They will have lots of cars on display for you to view. If you see one you like, ask if it’s still available to book for prom night. For a very reasonable flat fee, they will transport your son or daughter and their friends to the prom in style and all the monies raised are donated to charity – FOBS will receive 50% of all the money raised.

On behalf of FOBS members, the committee has agreed to fund the installation of a permanent plaque and other improvements to the memorial garden dedicated to Mr Sukram (Ainslie House). This will include replacing the wooden puzzle boards with permanent metal versions and a brass plaque mounted on a solid wooden base. The work should be completed before the end of the school year and you will be able to see the finished result in the garden behind the main reception block, where the planting scheme undertaken last year is now starting to mature and develop.
This has only been possible thanks to your continued donations and support. Remember that if you are unable to attend any of our events, you can donate by standing order or through Tucasi (FOBS should appear in the Trips and Events section – if you can’t see us, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org). We are actively seeking other projects to support and have been working to simplify the application process for subject leaders. Updates will be provided on this page when we have news to report.

It was brilliant to see so many people at the recent quiz night with last year’s winners (masquerading under the name ‘Whinge and Wine’) retaining their title. Will anybody ever beat this bunch of ladies??? It was a really great evening and raised a massive £557. Thank you to our raffle prize donors, including the Cork and Cheese delicatessen, and also to Mr Parkes for hosting the evening. If you came along and had a great time, please come again next year …. and tell your friends!
The committee is on the lookout for somebody to join to assist with FOBS’ communications. The current post holder is leaving the committee at the end of this school year, so we’re looking for somebody to come on board now and shadow for the remainder of the year. The role includes writing the content for this web page, the end of term newsletter, e-mails to parents promoting forthcoming events, creating promotional flyers and maintaining the FOBS inbox. No experience needed – just enthusiasm and an outgoing personality will do. Please contact us at email@example.com if you think you fit the bill. It’s a great way to get involved in school life.
Our final Bag2School collection this school year will take place between 3.30 pm and 6.30 pm on Thursday 11th May. If you’re tidying those wardrobes this Easter, please remember us. We need good quality clothing (no corporate or school uniform), paired shoes, belts, handbags and cuddly toys. NO BEDDING OR HOUSEHOLD ITEMS PLEASE. As usual, our volunteers will be stationed at the far end of the car park (by the minibuses) to take your bagged items straight from your car – no need to find a parking space if it’s busy.
The Committee are pleased to have secured a grant of £675 which will be used for the purchase of 5 new tablets for short observation feedback to support teaching and learning at Brookfield.
We will be offering refreshments at several events and parent evenings throughout the school year. Why not pop along and have a chat with us? We’d love to hear your views about FOBS and whether you have any thoughts about how the money we raise should be spent. For several years we have supported the Pupil Reward Scheme, but we are always interested to hear from parents and students about any other school projects or initiatives we could help support.
