KEY TRANSITION DATES 2024

DATES FOR STUDENT EVENTS:

  • PRIMARY/JUNIOR SCHOOL VISITS – May/June 2024

During May/June, Mr Grice and Miss Bennett (House Leader i/c Transition) will visit your child’s school to answer questions and talk to them about the Transition events.

Year 6s from non-feeder schools will be invited to come to Brookfield for their own Q&A session. Parents are also invited and Mr Grice will be available to answer questions. Date tbc.

  • YR 6 BRIDGING DAYS 8.30am-2.40pm – June 2024

These are one day visits to give your son or daughter a taste of a Brookfield school day and will focus on English, Maths and Science. The lessons will also link with work being covered in the primary schools and so help to ‘bridge’ the learning transition.

Children will spend the day meeting their House Leader, their tutor and Personal Development group. They will be engaged in a range of activities designed specially to help them get to know each other, make new friends and to become familiar with the school and our daily routines.

Due to the nature of this day, if your child is unable to attend the Induction Day, we cannot offer an alternative date. However, we do have a Yr 7 Induction Day on their first day in September when they have a bespoke day with their tutor.

DATES FOR PARENT/CARER EVENTS:

  • YEAR 6 PARENT/CARER EVENT – Monday 1 July 5pm-7pm

After-school training event for parents/carers on Monday 1 July 5pm to 7pm led by Lorraine Lee. Lorraine is a very well-respected member of the local community who offers dynamic and personal sessions for parents who are looking to encourage their children and students to achieve their potential at school and at home.

This 90-minute session is for parents/carers only. We are aware that the transition to secondary school can be an exciting one but can prove daunting. This move is a significant change and requires some new skills. At this session Lorraine will share with you techniques to help your child develop these skills and be prepared for the new relationships and structures coming their way to help them have a happy and smooth transition to secondary school.

This session is open to all parents/carers and more information will be sent nearer the time.

  • Year 6 Parent & Carer Information Evening - Monday 8 July

A one-hour session between 5.30pm and 7.00pm - times will vary depending on your child’s House – details will follow nearer the time.

The evening gives parents and carers the opportunity to meet your child’s House Leader, tutor and representatives from the Senior Leadership Team.
