Relaxing of Uniform Policy

Important Announcement

Dear Parents and Carers

Relaxing of Uniform Policy

With temperatures predicted to rise to up to 30 degrees, we will once again make a temporary adjustment to our uniform expectations to support students’ comfort and wellbeing.

For the remainder of this week, Wednesday 8 July to Friday 10 July, students will be permitted to wear either our navy-blue tailored shorts, or their school PE shorts instead of their usual school trousers. Please note that this is the only adaptation to the uniform policy.

PE shorts must conform to the following guidelines:

  • Plain black or navy shorts with or without a small sports logo.
  • Cycling shorts of any length/Nike Pro-style shorts are not permitted.
  • Shorts should cover most of the thigh.

The style of shorts that are accepted for PE are shown here:

All other expectations remain in place. Leggings and tracksuit bottoms are not permitted, and any shorts worn must be appropriate in length (not overly short or revealing). Students should continue to wear their school polo shirt and their usual school footwear.

We are making this adjustment to help students remain cool, comfortable, and focused on their learning during the hot weather, while still maintaining clear and consistent standards.

We also advise that students:

  • Bring a water bottle to school each day and take responsibility for refilling it at the water stations during break and lunchtime. Over the past year, we have added additional water stations around the school site.
  • Apply sunscreen as needed before and during the day.
  • Wear hats during break and lunchtime to protect themselves from the sun or make use of the shaded areas around the school site, including our canopy spaces.

Please be reminded that behaviour expectations remain unchanged. We expect all students to continue demonstrating our high standards of conduct by being Ready, Respectful and Responsible throughout the day.

Should a student arrive at school wearing clothing that is not appropriate or not their standard PE shorts (navy or black), they will be sanctioned in line with our behaviour and uniform policies, which may include contacting parents to rectify the issue.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us ensure that students are both safe and prepared during this period of hot weather, while maintaining our school expectations.

Kind regards

Mr Parkes
