Role is school based with 3 full days in school and 2 days with community home visits

Are you passionate about supporting young people and their families to thrive, both in school and beyond? We are seeking a skilled, compassionate and proactive Family Practitioner / ELSA to join our dedicated and supportive Emotional Wellbeing team.

This is a unique dual-role opportunity, combining in-school emotional literacy support with family-focused outreach work in the community.

About the Role:

You will play a vital role in supporting students’ emotional wellbeing and strengthening family relationships to improve outcomes and life chances.

  • In school (3 days): you will work as an ELSA, delivering tailored emotional literacy programmes and interventions to individuals and small groups, supporting students to develop resilience, self-esteem and social skills.
  • In the community (2 days): you will work as a Family Practitioner, providing practical, pastoral and targeted support to families, helping them overcome barriers and access appropriate services.

You will work closely with school staff, external professionals and families to ensure joined-up, impactful support.

Key responsibilities include:

·         Delivering and evaluating personalised ELSA programmes and interventions for students

·         Supporting students’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour and inclusion within school

·         Working directly with families to identify needs, develop support plans and review progress

·         Providing practical and pastoral support to improve family functioning and outcomes

·         Liaising effectively with teachers, the Learning Support and Safeguarding teams along with external agencies

·         Acting as a key link between school and home to promote engagement and consistency

·         Maintaining accurate records, reports and case documentation

·         Supporting referrals and signposting to relevant services

We are looking for someone who:

·         Has experience of working with children, young people and families in education, health or social care settings

·         Holds a nationally recognised qualification at minimum Level 3 in education, health and social care

·         Holds (or is willing to work towards) the ELSA qualification

·         Has strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships

·         Is organised, resilient and able to manage a varied caseload independently

·         Has a good understanding of emotional wellbeing, child development and the factors affecting learning and behaviour

·         Is committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families

What we offer:

·         A rewarding and varied role across school and community settings

·         A supportive and collaborative staff team

·         Opportunities for professional development and supervision

·         Flexible working arrangements within the structure of the role
